Completes
a thorough patient assessment
Produces
radiographs and/or digital images
a.
Prioritizes patients
based on urgency of need.
b.
Positions and transfers
patients
c.
Provides immobilization
and transfer devices as required, including use of the Pigg-o-stat,
Pediaposer, sponges, slider boards, and lifts
d.
Uses appropriate
identification markers and imprints radiographs/images with patient
demographics
e.
Selects technical
factors on an individual patient basis
f.
Selects the appropriate
imaging plate and/or grid based on the anatomy imaged.
g.
Provides radiation
protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards
h.
Chooses the correct
imaging parameters when utilizing Direct Digital or Computed Radiography Imaging
protocols.
i.
Demonstrates knowledge
and ability to prepare oral, rectal and IV contrast
j.
Assists the radiologist
in administering opaque media including oral and rectal barium, oral and
rectal gastrografin, and intravenous contrast
k.
Is proficient in the
utilization of computed radiography (CR) and/or direct digital radiography (DR)
and can complete each study according to department policies and protocols
including sending images to either PACS or the laser printer.
l.
Is proficient in the
workflow process from presentation of an exam requisition at the reception
desk through the total completion of the exam including the posting of the
report in the patient record.
m.
Is responsible for
delegated areas of authority in the performance of routine or special
procedures including trauma, fluoroscopy, portable x-ray exams, portable
fluoroscopic (c-arm) examinations, and surgical procedures.
Assists
in performing first aid as necessary
Maintains
certification in CPR to assist departmentally and interdepartmentally
Practices
sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination
Is
proficient in venipuncture and can start and maintain a patent
intravenous line to administer both iodinated intravenous contrast and
prescribed medications as directed by the radiologist or physician
Manages
records following specific department protocols and procedures
Data
Management
a.
Is proficient in
entering and recalling images in the Fuji PACS
b.
Has basic computer
skills using Word Perfect to create documents and can access the internet,
intranet Portal, e-mail, and EPIC.
c.
Is proficient in
selecting images and burning them to a CD
d.
Is proficient in
processing and sending images to our night hawk service for interpretation
Maintains
cleanliness and orderliness of workspace following accepted departmental
routines and procedures
Work
assignment
a.
Rotates through the department, working in
all areas that they have appropriate training. This includes all general diagnostic
radiography, fluoroscopy under the direction of the radiologist or physician,
portable x-rays, portable fluoroscopy (c-arm), surgery, emergency services department
and acute care. This also includes
interventional procedures.
Additionally, will be assigned to areas of demonstrated competency as
needed such as computed tomography and bone density testing. These assignments will be at the sole discretion
of the service leader or her designate.
b.
Staff Radiographers
will be assigned to shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays
c.
May be required to
cover call back exams
d.
Alternate s night-time,
weekend and holiday call as needed per schedule
e.
Will be required to
fill in on other shifts in response to illness, vacations, or staff
reductions, at the discretion of the Diagnostic Imaging manager.
Submission requirements: ARRT - RequiredCT Tech Experience - Required
BLS certifiedCT (Computed Tomography) Technologists
will attain ARRT registration in Computed Tomography within 24 months (2 years)
of completing their CT training, whether obtained in house through
cross-training with current CT professionals, or through other academic or
on-the-job training and experience.CT Registry must be obtained by 24
months (2 years) after completing CT training to maintain position at Scheurer
Health.
