Positions and instructs the patient radiological examinations, adjusts imaging equipment, and determines the proper voltage, current and desired exposure time for each image. SUMMARY

The person doing this job is responsible for a variety of tasks that lead to a high level of customer satisfaction with respect and dignity. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Instructs, prepares, and positions the patients and performs diagnostic x-ray and, if qualified, CT examinations. 2. Selects appropriate equipment and adjusts technical factors for each desired image. 3. Arranges and adjusts immobilization and supportive devices to obtain precise positioning and to preclude patient movement and shields patients according to radiation safety procedures. 4. Prepare and administer contrast media for certain examinations. 5. Completes all required documentation including imaging requests, patient ID cards, billing information, patient history and consent forms and appropriate logbooks, either in electronic or paper formats. 6. Electronically manages radiologist s preliminary and final reports and ensures copies of those reports are forwarded to the appropriate department(s). 7. Prepares and scans / transmits x-ray/US/CT images to radiologist. 8. Maintains appropriate electronic or CD patient records. 9. Cleans and maintains CT/CT facilities and equipment. 10. Maintains in an orderly fashion x-ray films/folders, index cards and related records. 11. Complies with all radiation safety procedures that protect self and the patient. 12. Transports patients during examination procedures. 13. May be required to work unusual hours, shifts or be on call. 14. Carry a cell phone when on call to respond to emergencies. Knowledge of theories, principles, and techniques of diagnostic imaging and related procedures. 2. Knowledge of principles of physics, electricity and related physical sciences as applied to radiology. 3. Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology as related to radiology. 4. Knowledge of medical terminology. 5. Knowledge of hazards of radiological materials and safety precautions. 6. Knowledge of CIMC procedures and record keeping requirements. 7. Knowledge of operation, maintenance, and adjustment of radiographic and film equipment. 8. Ability to operate a variety of radiographic and film processing equipment. 9. Ability to position patients for a wide variety of diagnostic examinations. 10. Deals with patients who may be under physical or emotional stress. 11. Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with patients, medical staff, and other fellow workers. Attitude 1. WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a Critical Access/ Rural Health Clinic environment. It involves frequent contact with patients, physicians, and other CIMC staff. Work may have heavy emotional requirements. Interaction with others is constant and interrupted. The employee could be exposed to communicable disease, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions that are common to the clinical environment. Safety policies and good health practices are expected to be understood and observed.
Physical / Mental Demands
1. Work closely with patients in all age categories. Patients are treated with care and compassion and with special regard for age-specific considerations. 2. Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting. Requires full range of body motion including lifting, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. 3. Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds. 4. Manual dexterity to operate a computer, telephone, copier, fax, and other such office equipment and medical equipment, as necessary. 5. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range. 6. Ability to work in stressful situations. 7. Fast and continuous work pace with variable workload. 8. Subject to many interruptions from multiple calls and inquiries and potentially emotional situations involving accidents, injuries and/or death. 9. Handle emergency/crisis situations in accordance with policy. 10. Potential risk of exposure to hazards from blood borne pathogens and infectious diseases. 11. Potential risk of exposure to hazards from chemicals (toxic and non-toxic, flammable materials gas and electrical or radiant energy or equipment with or without moving parts). Additional Information:Housing is a studio apartment and is offered at $200 per week paid for by traveler. There is a $200 non-refundable cleaning fee. Boat Tickets are provided at the ferry ticket counter. No personal automobiles are allowed on the Island.
